Supervisory responsibilities include supervision of procurement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and implement procurement strategy for the business, quality assurance and problem resolution.
Develops and directs procedures and methods to ensure adequate internal controls, maintain supplier relationships and maintain the integrity of the entire procurement cycle including meeting & maintaining quality standards.
Provides procurement expertise in the areas of steel plates, specialty steel materials, pipes & pipe fittings, valves and vended products throughout the organization.
Ensures delivery schedules are maintained, developing and driving cost-saving and improvement initiatives in conjunction with finance.
Manages procurement budget.
Manages order placement from inquiry to delivery.
Manages document control.
Recommends methods, materials and layouts for improvement based on manufacturing needs and capabilities.
Builds, develops and manages buyer team capable of carrying out needed procurement initiatives.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years experience of procurement in a supervisory capacity. The ideal candidate will have previously been an engineer who has a recognized qualification (Degree) and who has latterly developed within the procurement function.
